Smooth yourself up with a Smoothie

As many people i’m a huge fan of a good smoothie, not a smoothie diet but adding smoothies as an added extra has really helped me get all the nutrients I need.

I had an early christmas with my Dad and Step mum and was lucky enough to get my NutriBullet!!
I was so excited to use it when I got home the first thing I did was whip up a smoothie. It such a great machine, coming with cups and different blades for milling and blending and with minimal washing up, I think I might turn into a smoothie soon.
So Monday I spent my time experimenting with different ingredients and researching different types of smoothies and I thought I would share a few of the recipes – note you do not necessarily need a NutriBullet for these, a general blender will be fine. 🙂

CHLOE’S FAVOURITE

This is the smoothie I have every morning with my scrambled egg. These veggies and fruit have little or no fructose (sugar) and therefore is perfect for those trying to limit their sugar intake and loose weight. Add cranberries and grapes for extra sweetness.

– Kale
– Frozen banana
– Almond milk

Banana’s are packed with natural carbs and sugar to aid energy through out the day.

– Frozen mixed berries (Tesco do a ready made pack if you don’t have the time to freeze some)
– Orange juice

My mum’s favourite and for anyone with a sweet tooth this is perfecto! It is delicious and a great way to get kids to have some fruit. However, it is very high in sugar so I would only recommend it in small doses for those wanting to loose weight.

– Whey protein powder 1scoop
– Peanut butter tsp
– Banana (1)
– Milk (almond or skimmed)
– Vanilla extract 1ml

I’m a lover of whey protein and this would be a great pre-workout smoothie with the banana and peanut butter giving you the energy needed for an intense workout.

– Water
– Lemon
– 1 inch of ginger
– 4 inches of cucumber
– ¼ cup mint
– Ice

Lemon and mint are good blood detoxers and lemon helps flush everything out therefore this would be a great stomach cleansing smoothie!

½ canned pure pumpkin Greek yoghurtWater¼ Avocado
½ tsp pumpkin spice

During the winter especially I experience really dry and bad skin but the nutrients in these foods are said to form vitamin A, a skin-supporting nutrient which is needed for cell growth and therefore giving you better skin.

I would love to hear any other smoothie recipes. What is your favourite smoothie?
